Historians in Conversation, episode 32 - Kazimierz Bem

Historians in Conversation

Episode 32: dr hab. Kazimierz Bem

How do historians build their career, what motivates them and how they deal with professional and personal challenges? What shapes their professional path? Prof. Michael Green from the Faculty of Philosophy and History welcomes you to his podcast, where he will be inviting interesting guests to explore their stories.

Kazimierz Bem is a doctor of Law (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and habilitated doctor of history (Polish Academy of Science), who was born in Lodz, Poland. His interest in history was sparked during his childhood, which was divided between three countries, yet despite numerous publications already early during his academic education, he only became “professional” historian at the later stage of it. He is an Evangelical-Reformed pastor, living in the United States, and also an author of numerous historical works on the subject of Protestantism in Poland.

His publications include:

K. Bem, Calvinism in the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth 1548-1648: The Churches and the Faithful (St Andrews Studies in Reformation History), Leiden: Brill, 2020.

K. Bem, Słownik biograficzny duchownych ewangelicko-reformowanych. Pastorzy i diakonisy Jednoty Małopolskiej i Jednoty Warszawskiej 1815-1939, Wydawnictwo Naukowe Semper, 2015.
